With so many teams and leagues, it may be difficult to chose which club soccer team is best for you. Because every player has different goals, motivations, and expectations for playing soccer, there are a number of factors to consider when evaluating club soccer teams.
Some factors to consider when choosing a club soccer team are:
- Level of Competition: Are your goals aligned with those of the club and other players on the club?
- Cost: Factor in uniforms, travel & lodging and additional fees
- Proximity to practice field: Where does the club train and do you have transportation?
- Practice facilities: Does the club have practice facilities, especially during winter months
- Amount & distance of travel: Some clubs travel out of state. Do you have the ability/ desire to travel?
- Coaching experience: Who is coaching the team and what is their level of experience?
- Number of coaches on staff
- Strength of team vs playing time: Playing on a competitive team may mean less playing time. As you get to higher levels, playing time must be earned.
- Playing position: Clubs may have needs at certain positions or existing players that play your position.
